South Cerney Garage and Chukka Tukka Academy Tournament

Last weekend saw the first Academy Tournament of the 2016 season get off to a good start.

Foxcote took the first success of the tournament, winning 12 – 5 1/2 against Bad As, securing their place in the final.  Monte Grainger proved himself a valuable team member scoring the vast majority of the Foxcote goals.

Whilst Incitatus got off to a flying start, scoring the first two goals, Deva fought back with 8 consecutive goals in the following chukkas to win 8 – 7.

The Final started at a fast pace, Monte Grainger ensured an early lead for Foxcote, scoring two goals in the first half. However, Deva responded in kind and the score was 2 – 2 at half time. Ben Malasomma kicked off the third chukka with a goal putting Deva into the lead. Despite goals by Gaynor Hutton and Grainger, Deva had the edge and won the Academy Tournament 5 – 4.

Incitatus galloped into a 5 – 2 ½ win against Bad As to win the Subsidiary Final.

Winners were treated to bags of delicious goodies kindly provided by the tournament sponsors, South Cerney Garage and Chukka Tukka.
