The Jerudong Park Trophy Day 2016
Trewsbury Farm polo team, captained by Satnam Dhillon were victorious in the Jerudong Park Trophy 2016, beating HRH The Duke of Cambridge’s Cirencester Park Polo Team 4 goals to 3 ½ in some of the most testing conditions seen at the club.
Despite the Great British ‘Summer’ wreaking havoc on the beginning of the game, with a monsoon deluge of hail stones no less, the game was eventually able to begin after a short delay.
HH The Maharaja of Jaipur, undeterred by the wet conditions, scored straight from the first line up and made it a double in quick succession. Dave Allen scored for CPPC and by half time it was 1 ½ - 4 in favour of Trewsbury.
In the second half the ball was picked up by HRH The Duke of Cambridge who made an impressive run the whole way down in front of the stands but unfortunately the ball went wide. A great run by Tommy Severn down to goal secured the win for Trewsbury and they won 4 – 3 ½.
Most Valuable Player very deservingly went to HH The Maharaja of Jaipur for his excellent performance in the game.
Charities in attendance included Centrepoint and The English Schools’ Swimming Association of which HRH The Duke of Cambridge is a patron and Walking with the Wounded of which HRH Prince Henry of Wales is a patron. They gave impassioned speeches about the work their charities carry out and how much days like these do to support their causes.
