ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS FOR POLO CHEF

Cirencester Park Polo Club executive chef is celebrating four years at the helm of Cirencester Park Polo Club’s Bar and Brasserie.

Cirencester’s famous club house, home to the bar and brasserie, now open to all, with booking, has sat Kings, Queens, nobility and celebrity. It is also the oldest polo club in the country with roots back to its establishment in 1894.

Ethan Rodgers. A chef and hotelier, 45, won his first AA rosette and Bib Gourmand at just 25 and counts The Wheatsheaf in Northleach as one of the prestigious venues he has worked at. Since taking over he has opened the Bar and Brasserie to take bookings for private functions, something that has proved popular with views onto the country’s oldest polo field and club.

“I can’t wait to get back up there and fire up the oven, starting with Mother’s Day,” said Ethan. “The club has been great to us and the weekends up here are fabulous. Once the season is up and running in April, we will be open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and the bar will be open later at the weekends.”

Ethan and his team have put together a weekday menu as well as a special Sunday lunch that utilises some of his various local suppliers, including New Wave Seafood for Maldon oysters, farmer John Hind for the rib of beef and Toby and Churri from Duntisbourne for his roasted Old Spot pork and the Bathurst Estate itself for its wild garlic.
